City Explorer | New Life for an Old Switching Tower

Union City's railroad switching tower is believed to have been built around 1934. There are fewer and fewer still standing in Ohio and Indiana. The building was slated to be demolished by the CSX Railroad, but City officials, and citizens, are working together to save it from that fate. Currently, plans are in motion to move the tower just west of its current site, to Artisan Crossing, a planned park near the Arts Depot.  There, it will it will join a park and outdoor performance theater, to find new life as a visitor center and observation Tower.
