This year’s lighted Christmas parade will kick off the sixth annual “A Community Christmas” on Friday, November 25.
Registration for the parade is from 5:00-5:45 p.m. at Main Street Market. The parade will begin at Main Street Market at 6 p.m., continue to Columbia Street, and then on to Oak Street to Harter Park. The light display will be turned on at the conclusion of the parade. For more information or to enter, call 765-964-6080.
The spectacular light display, which boasts over three million lights, with thousands of additional lights added this year, will be open nightly from November 25 ‘til New Year’s Eve. Hours are Sunday through Thursday, 6-9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 6-10 p.m. Vehicles may enter from either drive off of Jackson Pike on the east end of the park only.
There is no admission fee; however donations will be accepted at the gate. Donations will benefit local groups who have signed up to welcome visitors and also to continue the Christmas display in the future. Local groups and organizations interested in manning the gate, should contact Shelly King at 765-964-6080.
Groups and organizations can take part in the annual decorating contest by adopting an area. Visitors can vote for their favorite display each time they drive through throughout the season. Monetary prizes will be awarded to the top three vote getters. To adopt a shelter house or an area, call Larry or Anita Amspaugh at 765-964-6302. The deadline to have all areas decorated is Sunday, November 20.
The Gift Shop will be in the shelter house near the horse arena and will be open Friday and Saturday evenings through December 17 from 6-9 p.m. Parking is available directly outside the Gift Shop. Kids can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus every Friday and Saturday through December 17 from 6-8 p.m. Local businesses, organizations, and crafters interested in booth space should contact Anita Amspaugh as soon as possible at 765-964-6302. Space is limited.
Monetary donations and donations of Christmas lights and decorations of all kinds are always welcome and may be dropped off at The Corner Cupboard in downtown Union City or at the home of Larry and Anita Amspaugh, 1373 Landsdowne Drive, Union City, Indiana.
Make it a family tradition to share the magic and joy of a winter wonderland during “A Community Christmas” in Union City.
