Eight questions with local band your acoustic uncles

Both the town and facebook have been abuzz with activity concerning local artists, Your Acoustic Uncles, since they opened up for national touring act the Dex Romweber Duo. We recently had the opportunity to ask Your Acoustic Uncles guitarist Donnie Wymer a few questions about the band. Here's what he had to say.

Who are the members of Your Acoustic Uncles and where are you all from?
(Donnie Wymer) I am from Union City - Aaron Willis is from Ansonia- Cody Partin is from Ansonia - Brad Behm is from Portland

What best describes the sound of your music?
Take a blender add a little Neil Young, a little Citizen Cope, a pinch of Candlebox and a small sprinkle of funk and blend well. The resulting mixture should be something similar to Your Acoustic Uncles

How long have each of you been playing music?
Brad has been playing drums for 21 years, Cody has been playing bass for 3 years, Aaron has been singing since childhood and I have been writing songs for about 10 years and playing guitar for two

Where can people buy your album and merchandise?
You can pick up our debut album "The first step..." at Luna Music in Indianapolis, Daves Downtown Records in Muncie and other fine record stores you can also pick up all of our music and merchandise at youracousticuncles.bandcamp.com and of course at all live shows

Where and when is your next show?
Our next local show will be on November 5th at Woodcrest Lanes in Union City and we have some other great original talent sharing the stage with us that night including local band "Rolling Rock" and from Ft Wayne "Looking for astronauts"

Tell us about the NPR broadcast in Ft. Wayne and how people can hear it.
That was a great experience, we recently recorded a episode of the show "Meet the music" for the NPR station in Ft Wayne. Each week the show features two bands or musicians so we're not sure who the other band will be on our episode or if we will be featured first or second but as far as the actual recording of the show goes our portion of the show was recorded in two twenty seven minute segments that consisted of five songs per segment with some interview time in there as well. It will air on Thanksgiving night Nov. 24 from 7-9 pm on 89.1 fm stereo or you can also stream it live and free from anywhere at http://nipr.fm/ a abbreviated replay will air the following Sunday night as well.

What would you like to see happen with a music scene here in Union City and surrounding areas?
I would like to see more original talent featured locally and more national talent to appear here as well. I would love to see a music festival of some sort at Harter Park or during Heritage Days instead of the same old cover bands year after year. We have a great musical heritage in this area that seems to have been forgotten, there have been some amazing musicians that have came from here or came through here and played in the past and I would like to get back to that. Support your local music scene wherever you are or one day it will die and there will have nothing left but cover bands and whatever mainstream radio force-feeds you.
Any last comments you would like the viewers to read?
First off we want to thank everyone who supports and believes in us and our music, its gonna be a long ride and we are just getting started!
